    Love Is...

I’m giving away 15 Kindle copies of Love Is…!

It’s a fantastic compilation of 40 short stories by 40 authors. Each one is about love in one of its many varied forms. Authors include amazing writers like my good friend Elise Logan, Kate Pearce, Crystal Jordan… you know what, I’m just going to list them all below because they’re all really great.

Oh, and did I metion it's for a good cause?  All proceeds from this anthology go to support the Reach Out and Read, an evidence-based nonprofit organization of medical providers who promote early literacy and school readiness in pediatric exam rooms nationwide by giving new books to children and advice to parents about the importance of reading aloud.

I know, this is a food blog, and food has nothing to do with love, right? Wrong! Food and love often go together.  When was the last time you went on a date, whether it be a first date or a celebration of 50 years together, that didn’t include some sort of food? Still don’t believe me? Just watch this memorable clip from Lady and the Tramp.

So, what do you have to do for a copy of this fabulous anthology? It’s simple, just comment below.  Tell us about a time in your life when love and food went together (keeping it PG-13 or better, please).  Or if you don’t have a story you wish to share, simply shout out your favorite Authors Kitchen recipe or even just say hello. The first 15 people to comment will automatically receive a copy.  Just make sure to enter your email address so I know where to send it.

Authors included in this anthology: S.M. Butler, Kate Pearce, Marie Hall, Zoe York, Kat Cantrell, Sidney Bristol, Cassandra Curtis, A. Catherine Noon & Rachel Wilder, Keri Ford, Sadie Haller, Crystal Jordan, Jennifer Lewis, Molly McLain, Mima, Natasha Moore, Elle Rush, Jessica Stone, Holley Trent, A.J. Vale, Elle Wylder, Clarice Wynter, Sabrina Darby, Bonnie Dee, Jennifer Haymore, Vivienne Westlake, Elianne Adams, Melisse Aires, Mahlee Ashwynne, Sophie Avett, Jennifer Blackstream, Sela Carsen, Cate Dean, Grace Draven, Hailey Edwards, Dayna Hart, Elise Logan, Lyra Marlowe, Tina Moss & Yelena Casale, Cate Rowan, and Faye Hunter.

When hubster and I had our first date we were young and poor. He made the best of it, though. We picked up subway sandwiches and took them to a park where they were having a free carnival. We sat on a blanket on the grass and ate them. For dessert he bought us some cotton candy, and then when the sun went down, we spread the blanket back out and watched the fireworks. Food and love definitely go together.

Do I really have to write a story here or can I simply provide a link to the solution for all problems related to any form of hunger either sexual or physical, and most notably female emotional too?

I won't go into details for the PG ## audience..... ;-)

I already have a copy, so please let someone else have my copy.

When I was with my first husband, we went to the new Olive Garden in town. Had about a two hour wait. He and an older gentlemen both went to get the same chair for their wives to sit down, and my ex of course told the older man to get it. We finally get seated, and about five minutes later, that couple was seated next to us. Al kinds of things happenedvduring dinner that got all four of us laughing so hard. When it came time to pay, the waitress told us it was already paid for, including the tip.

The older couple, Ken and Louise, yes, I still remember their names 26 years later, had paid. Said they enjoyed dinner so much and it had been so long since they had seen such polite and well mannered young people take time to talk to " two old farts"...their words, not ours. It really made our day. Ps. It was our first wedding anniversary. We saved up for six months to afford to eat out. So, it really meant something for them to do what they did.

    Hello,

I've set up a picnic and the rules were that for anything picked up to consume, drinks included, we had to associate it with love and relationships. Cheese represented a corny or cheesy love note or gift, a plum represented the good and bad times (sour skin, sweet fruit) that relationships will endure but the seed was the love that needs to remain at the center. Of course watermelon was described as juicy and since this post is PG-13, you can guess where the conversation regarding that fruit went.

On my husband's and my first formal date, I had an allergic reaction to citrus and contact dermatitis around my mouth as a result. I was so embarrassed I wanted to cancel, but he insisted we still go. We went to a festival on the levee in Greenville, MS where they had lots of fair food like corn dogs, turkey legs, hot tamales, elephant ears, cotton candy, and etc. We enjoyed a great meal of junk food, which I had to gingerly eat considering the rash I had on one side of my mouth. At the end of the evening, I was sure he was going to drop me off and never ask me out again, but he surprised me and kissed me on the side of my mouth that wasn't broken out and joked that I'd given him a "kiss with a twist." I thought, this guy must really like me a lot if he was willing to kiss me with my mouth in the condition it was in. We just celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary :)

I don't have a story to share, but I know that any date that DH & I have gone one has involved food somehow. Whether it's dinner at a restaurant or popcorn at the movies. Food is definitely a part of love.
